What the Grandmas Tell us

The Illustrious 'Bankrupt'

Kunjamman Nambiar had his apprenticeship under his uncle Kelappan Nambiar in the efficient management of the estate. He presided over the affairs of the family as the Karanavar for over three decades. And he did it in an illustrious manner. He acquired considerable wealth, consolidated the properties of the Tharawad and wielded persuasive influence.

However, some rivals filed a suit in the Tellicherry Zilla Court paying that Kunjamman Nambiar be declared bankrupt. The suit was, of course, dismissed in 1818 AD. In a few years after this, he breathed his last.
